A new adaptation that I am co-creating and directing has been selected for The Assembly’s Deceleration Lab!

The Assembly has announced this year's recipients of the Deceleration Lab, an initiative to foster new theatrical projects that experiment with multi-perspective and multi-disciplinary models of creation. The 2023-2024 Deceleration Lab will support the development of three new works led by artists Devin McCallion Fletcher, Minna Lee, Lillian White, Erin Amlicke and Marlena Ospina.

White, Amlicke and Ospina are collaborating on Thursday: a fantasia, an experimental response to G.K. Chesterton’s The Man Who Was Thursday that upends everything you think you know about the days of the week, the people who count them, and what to do with the ones we have.

COMING SOON to KY, SC, & NC!

Can a chicken’s life story help us understand our own—as individuals, and as a species?

A small-town farm girl finds herself caught between South America and South Carolina. Inspired by the birds who have accompanied human migration for millenia, she reflects on what it means to be a traveler in the 21st century. Dreamt up on her parents’ 50- acre chicken farm and developed in Lima, Peru, this unique performance is rooted in bilingual, multicultural collaboration.

Duration: 50 minutes // Suitable for ages 12+

The Promise Land Remembered, a short experimental documentary produced and directed by Lillian, will appear in the Beaufort Film Festival and Down East Flick Fest in November. Follow the festival's pages for details!

The film explores the history of the Promise Land neighborhood in Morehead, NC in the words of those who lived there. The once-undesirable waterfront land is where settler fisherfolk and shore whalers moved when 19th-century deforestation and hurricanes compounded to make their homes on the Outer Banks unlivable. In this playful, transportive documentary, the Promise Landers discuss their origins, and how the community has adapted and changed over the decades.
